Harper Announces 2005 Harper Flexo College of the Year
4/07/2005 - (Charlotte, NC)
Global anilox roll supplier, Harper Corporation of America, is pleased to announce that the 2005 winner of the Harper Flexo College of the Year is California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
Margaret Harper Kluttz, executive vice president of Harper Corporation, and Pete Hartman, Harper’s vice president of sales, presented the prestigious award and trophy to Cal Poly instructor Malcolm Keif at the Flexographic Technical Association’s 2005 FTA Forum awards banquet in Orlando, Fla., on Sunday, March 20.
Second place went to Appalachian State University of Boone, N.C.; and 2003 winner Dunwoody Institute of Technology in Minneapolis, Minn., received third place.
“This special award was created in 2002 to encourage excellence in flexographic education,” said Kluttz. “Harper is very proud to support these students and recognize their hard work.”
Each participating school submitted a notebook or CD which was reviewed by a panel of industry veterans and judged on a variety of criteria, including appearance, information about the school and its flexo printing program, print samples, student comments, and interviews with converters.
This year’s judges included: Dan Heller, president of Mastergraphics and trustee of the Foundation of the Flexographic Technical Association (FFTA); Ken Lowden, chairman of the 2004 FFTA Forum and Phoenix Challenge board member; Bettylyn Krafft, president of Krafft Printing Systems and chairman of the Phoenix Challenge Foundation; Kelly Roberts, president of Canflexographics; and Howard Vreeland, Jr., vice president of Anderson & Vreeland.
