Customers Find HarperScientific's™ UV
RE-LEEZ™
Excellent for use in Ultrasonic Tanks
Charlotte, N.C., Decenmber 13, 2006 - HarperScientific™,
the printing and coating supplies division of global anilox supplier Harper
Corporation of America, developed UV Re-Leez™, a product formulated especially
for removing UV ink from narrow web presses, anilox rolls and all equipment,
with on-press use in mind.
"But we were thrilled to get reports from customers that they found great
success using UV Re-Leez as a solvent ink cleaner for anilox and gravure
cylinders in ultrasonic tanks," said Jim Doedderlein, technical sales
specialist for HarperScientific. "We've had reports that customers are cleaning
press sleeves in ultrasonic tanks and cleaning the between-station dryer
assemblies the same way. In a case where the air diverters on the drum side of
the dryer were clogged with ink, the customer used UV Re-Leez in the ultrasonic
tank to clean them, and the operator called to tell us the dryers looked like
new!"
"Another converter ran its ultrasonic tank with UV Re-Leez to clean
chrome/copper gravure cylinders, and said it was the best stuff they have
seen," said Jim Harper, vice president at HarperScientific.
As a result of the reports, HarperScientific conducted its own corrosion and
efficacy tests on UV Re-Leez that indicated the product is indeed, safe and
effective for ultrasonic tank use. A one-week soak test found that UV Re-Leez
is non-corrosive for aluminum.
"We talked to ultrasonic tank manufacturers who indicated that until now there
has not been an ultrasonic cleaner that is aluminum-safe," said Tony Donato,
Harper Corporation process & product development engineer. "In addition, a
gravure user told us that cleaning a roll covered with cold seal adhesive with
their former cleaning solution in the ultrasonic tank gave off a very foul odor
that filled the whole plant. But UV Re-Leez cleans the cold seal roll without
any noxious smell."
For best results, mix UV Re-Leez with water at a ratio of one part cleaner to
four parts water, and run the ultrasonic tank without heat. Without the heater,
the ultrasonic vibration heats the cleaner to about 120 degrees Fahrenheit - a
temperature that brings excellent results.
The new cleaner's advanced surfactant technology is exceedingly environmentally
friendly, using no petroleum distillates or environmentally hazardous
chemicals. It is a biodegradable, low-vapor pressure and low-V.O.C. cleaner.
Available exclusively through HarperScientific, this super-concentrated formula,
which can be diluted with water, is sold in 4-packs of 32 oz. bottles, pails
and drums.
HarperScientific is the manufacturer of CeramClean II™ and CeramClean SOLV-IT™
anilox cleaners, a wide variety of flexographic and gravure hand-proofing
systems, and DuroSeal™ chamber blade end seals.
